History

It’s estimated that 62 percent of women in America wear a size 12 or larger. And it’s been reported for the past decade that the average size in women’s wear is 14. For many years, plus size women had limited fashion choices and because of this, women were often stuck with monotonous choices of clothing. Overtime, some designers discovered the need to create clothing sizes 14 and upwards for women. Many jean companies don’t make plus jeans but at indi, we offer a specific plus fit for curvier women size 16 and over and our slim fit pant goes up to size 20.

Style Advice

For a plus size women, avoid embroideries or flaps as they will make you look heavier from behind. Also avoid heavy finishing treatments, super low rises, and fits that are too baggy.

Big surprise: dark colors give a diminishing effect to any silhouette (thus why black will always be in), so try a dark wash jean for an instantly slimmer look.

In addition, we suggest fabrics with stretch to give comfort and support and so that the jeans conform to your curves. So many plus jean patterns really don’t cut it, and stretch helps women who desire a jean that hugs their curves comfortably. In addition, stretch will allow you to wear slimmer cuts without accentuating your curves in an unflattering way. Believe it or not, we recommend stretch fabrics for all women (not just plus size women) as it gives comfort AND creates a beautiful silhouette for any women (as long as the percentage of stretch is within reason of course).
