It was back in February that I wrote about the custom jeans offered by California based indi. Now, the company offers custom designed dress shirts for men.
True to the mass customization approach customers can personalize their style and choose from millions of possible combinations, a staggering selection that could never be offered in a traditional retail store, or even by a tailor for that matter.
Says the company’s press release: “On the indiTailored site, the customer chooses a Classic or Tailored style and selects his fabric, ranging from classic to contemporary colors and patterns. Next the customer can choose from numerous collar, cuff, placket, pocket and monogram options. Lastly, he provides some brief fit information, including sleeve length and height, and answers a handful of visually cued fit questions.
With this information, indiTailored creates a custom dress shirt pattern, from which the shirt is cut, sewn and shipped directly to the customer in less than four weeks. indi’s technology enables individually designed apparel without the typically high custom price. Shirts begin at just $79.99 US.”
All in all, this is a great example of mass customization brought to the apparel industry. It’s custom tailoring - without the tailor!
