Petite Jeans Title
Basic Definition
Petite jeans are specifically made for petite bodies or those who are shorter than 5’5” in height; typically 5’3” or less.
History
Petite jean sizes were ignored in the mainstream fashion market some 40 years ago. It wasn’t until 25 years ago that many designers like Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan and Calvin Klein finally answered the demand of petite women by creating a special clothing size for them. Part of the reason why petite jean sizes were ignored was due to their inability to maintain a good profit margin. Petite jean sizes did not reach large numbers of consumers until the early 1980’s, when a handful of major apparel labels like Liz Claiborne and Adrienne Vittadini, having discovered that millions of smaller women did not fit into their regular clothing lines, agreed to produce petite sizes. Now, many denim companies offer petite jeans. At indiDenim, our cutting-edge technology lets petite women design their own, completely unique style.
