Trouser Jeans Title
Basic Definition
Trouser jeans resemble that of a more traditional dressy pant; this cut is fitted on the hips and drapes loosely away from the thighs and legs. Trouser jeans are a great addition to your wardrobe—classic, stylish and can be dressed up and down in an instant with the right accessories.

History
Initially created for men, Trouser jeans were a European peasant garment embraced by settlers in the New World. During the post-Renaissance era, trouser jeans were widely considered a lower class garment, perhaps appropriate for hard labor.
Trouser jeans always suggested many kinds of freedom, including convenience, mobility—and suggestiveness. The woman version of trouser jeans did not gain popularity until the later part of 20th century. Some physically active women began wearing trousers for increased mobility; emancipators wore them as a symbol of their defiance of male domination. Women wore trouser jeans for leisure activities such as riding, gardening or walks on the beach. Actresses like Katherine Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich helped made trouser jeans acceptable for woman by being photographed wearing them.
As a result of rationing of clothing in Britain during WWII, many women wore their husbands’ trousers to work while they served in the armed forces. Andres Courreges helped put trouser jeans on the fashion map during the 1960s and eventually introduced them to the denim world as a cut or fit.

Style Advice
Despite their “peasant” origins, trouser jeans provide an elevated look that instantly gives you a sense of class.
Fit: Trouser jeans generally offer more room to the thighs and knees. Great for someone who wants a comfortable jean with a classy look.
Tip #1: Trouser jeans look great when worn with masculine pieces such as vests and blazers; wear them as you would classic trousers.
Tip #2: Similar to boyfriend jeans you can also contrast these masculine pants with a feminine top like a fine blouse, preferably with a clean finish and dark wash trouser jean.
Tip #3: Pair it with a crisp button down shirt tucked inside and a wide belt, this will give you a preppy and hip look that can be appropriate for work.
